New Toyota Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Named Mid – Size Pickup Truck of Texas for Sale in Westborough, MA

November 20th, 2017 by

The 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro was named the Mid-Size Pickup Truck of Texas at the 2017 Texas Auto Writers Association’s (TAWA), Truck Rodeo. More than 50 TAWA journalists and over 100 manufacturers head to the Truck Rodeo every fall. In those two days they judge the best trucks in the country, SUV’s and crossovers. This year, there were 75 journalists who had to evaluate the Tacoma TRD Pro. This vehicle went through 16 hours of exposure in driving through rugged off-road terrain at the Longhorn River Ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas.

“The Tacoma has built a reputation for quality, durability and reliability, and we’re honored that TAWA has named the Tacoma TRD Pro the Mid-Size Pickup Truck of Texas for the second straight year,” said John Myers, Toyota vehicle marketing and communications national manager. “With the opening of our Toyota Motor North America headquarters in Plano in July, we are especially excited to win this award as Texans.”

This vehicle is assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (TMMTX), in San Antonio.

The TRD Pro is driven by an Atkinson Cycle V6 engine and is able to produce 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque and has TRD-tuned Fox Internal Bypass shocks, front skid plates and a TRD shift lever. All of these elements make this one fearless truck. The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro was considered especially important because of its off-road technology. For its better off-road capability, the TRD comes with technologies such as CRAWL Control, Multi-Terrain Select, and a selectable locking rear differential.

TAWA is a nonprofit, Texas based-association, with a mission to advertise and promote, above all, quality and professionalism in automotive journalism for more than two decades. TAWA is the host of two annual events: Texas Auto Roundup and Texas Truck Rodeo. Members have the chance to experience vehicles from different manufacturers all in one place.
