Toyota Reveals 2018 NASCAR Camry Race Car at NAIAS in Detroit
Toyota revealed its 2018 NASCAR Toyota Camry race car. In addition to this, it was also the first public appearance of 2018 production Camry. Detroit, 2017, huge audience was attracted by this vehicle at North American Auto Show where the vehicle was displayed. This race car will be competed in 2017 for Toyota’s NASCAR Premier Series manufacturer’s championship.

“The 2018 Toyota Camry NASCAR race car has been years in the making, and to unveil it simultaneously with our new production Camry is a milestone moment for our organization,” said Ed Laukes, Vice President of Integrated Marketing Operations for Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A. “The collaboration between Calty Design Group and TRD has produced a NASCAR Camry that showcases aggressive styling that is sure to turn heads on the race track and among our fans in Toyota showrooms across the country. Reimagining both the Camry race car and its production counterpart has been a tremendous undertaking and our goal has been to maintain parallel design characteristics so our fans can enjoy driving a Camry that closely resembles the one their favorite NASCAR driver races each weekend.”
The new vehicle was designed and made in cooperation with Calty Design Group and TRD. This design was led by Camry’s chief designer, Masato Katsumata, but most of parts for Camry’s 2018 production were designed by the engineers from Calty Design Research, Inc., and Toyota’s Racing Development working together.

Calty collaborated with Toyota and TRD on updating the NASCAR Camry. The first was when NASCAR brought in its Gen-6 models in 2013. Then in 2015 when Toyota updated the Camry race car. This design group also worked with TRD on the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series Camry, later on the 2014 Toyota Tundra for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. It’s currently working on NHRA Funny Car Camry.
Toyota entered the NASCAR Premier Series competition in 2007 with the Camry. The manufacturer won its first driver’s championship in 2015, following its first championship in 2016.
For more than 10 seasons, Camry drivers won the championship of 95 NASCAR Premier Races. For now, NASCAR Camry is going to have its first public appearance in 2017 before 2018 production Camry gets displayed in Toyota showrooms.
The NASCAR Camry will be ready for its contest at Daytona International Speedway on February 18th in The Clash at Daytona prior to defending the Daytona 500 title on Sunday, February 26th.
