Toyota Power of Exchange: Building opportunities for different suppliers

August 20th, 2017 by

The 2017 Toyota Power of Exchange took place at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, July 20th, and had more than 600 participants. All of them had one mutual goal: building opportunities. This event was held third year in a row and since it has continued to create new partnerships not only in Texas, but beyond.

Power of Exchange means helping to connect various companies. This includes connecting businesses owned by women and minorities with Toyota suppliers in marketing, sales and other professional services. In 2016 Toyota spent more than $3.0 billion on various businesses and on different suppliers accounting for over 30 percent for the construction of the new Toyota headquarters in Plano. Over the last year, there was an increase of almost 40 percent of exhibitors at the conference.

“Toyota Power of Exchange provides a dynamic forum for participants to create meaningful and sustainable partnerships with Toyota’s tier 1 network of suppliers,” said Robert Young, group vice president of purchasing, supplier engineering development and cost planning. “This conference is just one of many ways Toyota is ensuring our supplier base continues to better reflect the diversity of our customers, partners and team members.”

The conference is part of Toyota’s supplier growth initiatives which involves the Toyota Opportunity Exchange that will take place in November, in Detroit, MI. at the Cobo Center.
