Toyota Named Environmental Leader for 12th Consecutive Year

Toyota has recently collected its 12th consecutive U.S. Energy Star Partner of the Year Award (EPA). This award is for being a leader in environmental protection through energy efficiency.

The award was given during the ceremony on Wednesday, April 13th, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington D.C.

Robin Haugen, Toyota’s plant and environmental engineering group general manager said that this was a huge honor to be named the Energy Star Partner of the Year. Toyota earned that honor for 12 consecutive years, which is a testament of loyalty to all members for decreasing carbon footprint and to becoming one of the environmental leaders in this kind of industry.

Toyota’s 14 manufacturing facilities in North America have saved more than $640 million and 16 billion kilowatt hours of electricity since 2002. This is an equivalent to powering 995,000 average American homes for a whole year. This decreased complete energy use by 35 %. Thanks to Toyota’s senior leadership dedication in reducing environmental impact through projects like replacing fluorescent light fixtures and HVAC control systems with energy efficient types.

Toyota as team plays big role in reduction activities in all their plants. All this work leads to saving and reducing energy costs in all Toyota manufacturing facilities.
