Toyota Models Ranked Top in Their Segment by J.D. Power

Toyota has been awarded by J.D. Power 10 of the 18 segment awards of its 2017 Vehicle Dependability Study released yesterday. According to J.D. Power, Toyota is “representing the highest number of awards ever received by an individual corporation in the study”.

While being in their 28th year of its study, J.D. Power takes an extremely in-depth view in both pre-owned and new car customers. The study examines the overall dependability of each make and model “by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality. The study covers 177 specific problems grouped into eight major vehicle categories.” Other main factors that are examined within the study of each make and model include: brand loyalty, residual value, and consumer shopping habits.

The 10 Toyota segment awards include:

• Toyota Avalon
• Toyota Camry
• Toyota FJ Cruiser
• Toyota Prius
• Toyota Prius v
• Toyota Sienna
• Toyota Venza
• Lexus ES
• Lexus GS
• Lexus RX

“J.D. Power estimates that Toyota—the highest-ranked non-premium brand in the study—has a residual values benefit of more than $750 per vehicle, compared with the average brand. This translates into a benefit of more than $1.3 billion for the 2014 model year alone.”

The highest ranking nameplates and models are Lexus and Porshe with a score of 110 PP110. Toyota follows with a score of 123 PP100. Other both premium and non-premium makes include:
