Toyota gives One-Million-mile Tundra owner a New One

A man called Victor Sheppard has put lot of miles in his vehicle, Toyota Tundra, one million to be exact. He is a fan of this brand and bought a brand new one in 2007. This model was built and assembled in facility San Antonio, Texas. He was driving this truck for more than 9 years. This is the reason why Toyota decided to award this Tundra owner with a new one. Sheppard’s new car, a 2016 Tundra, is his 16^th Tundra.

“My truck looks great, and, except for a few little dents, it’s almost like new,” said Sheppard in a statement from Toyota. “Even the seats look just as they were when I bought it. They’re not as clean, of course, but they’re not busted or worn out.”

He has been driving about 125,000 miles per year, frequently driving from his home in Louisiana to North Dakota, Wyoming and Virginia to work. There are still the original engine, transmission and paint as well on the truck. It has been in the dealership 117 times for service.

He wanted to drive it and keep it, but Toyota had other plans. They thought that this truck’s long life can give them some insight for the future products and the opportunity to learn some new lessons and make even better cars.

“Having a million-mile truck in as pristine condition as this one with original parts is a truly rare find,” said Toyota’s chief tuck engineer Mike Sweers in a statement.They offering him a good deal and he got 2016 Tundra.

“Our team plans to tear down the entire truck, bumper-to-bumper, top-to-bottom to evaluate how the quality and safety we designed, engineered and built into the Tundra has held up to over one-million miles of real-world driving,” said Sweers.
