Earth Day

The plant in San Antonio, Texas, where Tundra and Tacoma trucks are built, every day is Earth Day. They recycle 1.2 million gallons of water every day. They clean and reuse water which comes from San Antonio Water Systems. The huge success of this system that lasts from 2007 is the amount of water recycled.

There is a new project in partnership with CPS Energy with two acres of solar panels that will be installed at TMMTX campus. This will also have educational character for the thousands of visitors, because it will be installed close to plant’s Visitor and Educational Center.

These panels will produce about 200 kilowatt hours (KWH) of energy, therefore saving $12,000 per year.

There are many projects that are concentrated on saving water and energy. The project focused on recovering water from the coil ventilation supplies 14.5 million gallons of make–up water for plant’s cooling tower each year. This reduces reliance on public water. Another project focused on boiler efficiency achieved savings over 22 million cubic feet of natural gas, which is adequate to power 450 homes for a year.

In the future, TMMTX will continuously work on being green. TMMTX continues with projects such as LED substitute project, ultrafiltration project converting more and more water with the aim zero-landfill.
