Toyota Camry Hybrid Enforces More Law Per Gallon

A gas/electric hybrid produces less pollution, uses less fuel, gets more mpg, and is quieter than a gasoline engine. This is a good thing for a cop car. They can sneak up quietly if they want to catch some bad guys. These are some of the benefits discovered by Arkadelphia, Arkansas Police Department after replacing 10 of their vehicles with Toyota Camry Hybrids.

At first, “I was dead set against it,” says veteran officer Don Cleek. “To me, a police car’s supposed to be rear wheel drive, V8 and can go through ditches.” He was not convinced, but the city manager Jimmy Bolt pushed the Chief of Police Al Harris to give Camry Hybrids a shot. A Few months later it was obvious they did a good job.

Above all, fuel savings and maintenance costs were lower. The Arkadelphia as a city saved 3% from its annual budget. It is good to be an environmentalist agrees Officer Cleek, saving money and catching thieves.
