Toyota as the First to Use Eco-Friendly Biosynthetic Rubber
If we are talking about Toyota, the beginning of next month brings us something new. This is in a new step in the field of eco friendliness. Toyota will become the first to use biohydrin, a new biosynthetic rubber product. This eco-friendly material is developed from plant-derived bio-materials. This will result in the reduction of carbon emissions comparing to petroleum-based hydrin rubber. According to Toyota, this means a 20% cut in carbon emissions all thanks to this technology.
This also means recycling parts of plants that were not usable either for animals or in the industry so the agricultural processes will not be affected.
The Toyota rubber hoses will be eco-friendly vacuum sensing used in engine consumption parts. These pressure sensors detect negative pressure in the intake manifold.
These hoses are resistant to oil, heat aging, ozone resistance, heat and gas permeability. It is Toyota’s plan to continue with this kind ecological plastic and biosynthentic rubber development for many components. The very next step in Toyota will be to extend the use of biohydrin for brake hoses and fuel line hoses.
By the end of this year, automobiles manufactured in Japan will use this new material. The first vehicles using vacuum sensing hoses will be produced in May. Toyota is the first automaker which will start using this material. This is a small but important step towards environmental targets.
