Toyota Acknowledged as the Top Automaker by R&D Magazine
Toyota is already a leading innovator in automotive industry, and has been awarded for more patents than any other automaker for the past 8 years. It was no surprise when R&D 100 Awards Committee and R&D Magazine announced the finalists for 2016. This is 54th Annual R&D 100 Awards, which honors the best 100 innovative technologies for the past year. This year’s R&D 100 Award Winners event was held on November 3rd in Washington D.C.
“As companies in the automotive industry transform themselves into broader mobility providers, no auto company better demonstrates innovation and technology for the future than Toyota,” said Jeff Makarewicz, senior vice president, Toyota Technical Center (TTC), Toyota’s North American research and development headquarters. “We’re focused on delivering great experiences for our customers, a cornerstone of Toyota’s product commitment, and this recognition is proof we’re living up to that promise.”
The brand was recognized in numerous categories. TMC received an R&D 100 award for improvement in thermal cooling design of the Land Cruiser Prado. The Toyota Research Institute, North America (TRI-NA), was awarded for advancements in electric and hybrid vehicle systems. This award was for their work with technology which allows the battery to perform more efficiently and possibilities to be charged wirelessly while the vehicle is being driven.
This ceremony and award demonstrate the Toyota’s growing success and presents it as one of the world’s superior innovators.
