The 2018 Corporate Equality Index honored Toyota with another excellent score of 100 percent

Toyota has been honored with a perfect score of 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for 11 years straight, including 2018. The Corporate Equality Index is a national report and survey on corporate policies associated with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality, conducted by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

Toyota was one of the first automotive companies to provide inclusive benefits in domestic partnership back in 2002. It then continued its support of LGBTQ team members by giving and extending benefits like tax, support in adoption and health benefits for the transgender.

“Toyota’s commitment to diversity doesn’t stop within the company,” said Chris Reynolds, executive vice president and chief diversity officer of Toyota Motor North America. “Across the country, Toyota partners with, and invests in a variety of organizations to help build positive, affirmative environments in which the diverse members of our communities, including LGBTQ, can live and make stronger contributions towards an ever-better society for all.”

The 2018 CEI judges LGBTQ – related policies and practices. These include domestic partner benefits, protection on workplace and non-discrimination, competency programs, transgender-inclusive health care benefits and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Due to all these factors, Toyota not only fulfilled the CEI’s criteria and resulted in the 100 percent ranking but was also voted “Best Place to Work” for LGBTQ Equality.

Every year, Toyota builds strong and successful relationships with some of America’s most active and growing companies, investing over one billion dollars into businesses with women and minority-owned suppliers. Toyota aims to ensure businesses and opportunities which are open to all.
