Once Again Toyota Industry Leader with Most Top Safety Pick +Awards
For the third consecutive year, Toyota has earned the Top Safety Pick+ award. This award comes from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). With this Toyota has earned more awards than any other manufacturer. Twelve Toyota and Lexus vehicles won IIHS awards for 2017. In total, five Toyota vehicles and four Lexus were named Top Safety Pick+ award winners.

“At Toyota, our focus remains on the safety and peace of mind of our customers,” said Dino Triantafyllos, Toyota’s North American Chief Quality Officer. “We are proud that our commitment to developing safe and reliable vehicles resulted in such a strong showing in 2017 TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards”.
To earn the Top Safety Pick + award, a vehicle must get the highest possible rating of “good” in five IIHS crash tests. This also means earning top marks for front crash prevention and for headlight visibility. Adding new headlight criteria is one important element for getting the 2017 IIHS award. This means that only vehicles that have good or acceptable headlight visibility are allowed to qualify for this highest honor.
IIHS identified that, between this year’s Top Safety Pick+ receivers, Toyota Corolla has updated front crash prevention and overlap crash protection. Toyota Prius has better headlights.
