Fall Car Tips

September 6th, 2018 by

Although the temperature for us New Englander’s doesn’t feel like fall is upon us, it will be here before we know it. Before the official start of autumn arrives, take the time now to prepare your vehicle for the cool days and frosty nights. Here are five things you can do to ensure your vehicle is ready to tackle the season ahead.

Check your tires

As the summer heat comes to a close, an entirely new climate is arriving. The cooler days result with the need to check the tread and pressure of your tires. Make sure that all of your tires are properly inflated, are free from any debris, and ensure that your tires are not bald.

Change your air filter

Did you know that changing your vehicle’s air filter can improve your vehicle’s engine life? A vehicle’s air filter is designed to trap dirt and different debris that can damage your engine if left unchanged. It’s recommended to change your air filter every 15,000 miles so, if you don’t remember the last time this has been done, be sure to schedule your fall service check-up!

Check your battery

With a fully charged vehicle battery comes a happy and safe driving experience. Be sure to check your battery level well before your next lengthy road trip or the cold days. The last thing you need is a dead car on the side of a cold road without any heat!

Check your oil

No matter if you have conventional oil or synthetic oil, checking your vehicle’s engine oil is crucial. If your oil is low/empty, replacing it can help a healthier gas mileage and prevent any engine complications.

Check your wipers and washer fluid

This may be one of the most common yet forgotten tasks to do before every season begins. Here is a great article by AutoBlog on how to perform these two tasks at the convenience of your home.
