Calling Teen Filmmakers: Toyota and Discovery Education Launch Safe Driving PSA Video Challenge
The 2018 TeenDrive365 Video Challenge is open for entries. There will be a $15,000 grant provided for the winner. One of the most exciting moments in a teen’s life is learning how to drive. This, however, could be a very dangerous time, as well. Short videos can be very powerful and can illustrate certain safe driving habits as well as situations that can be dangerous. Having all these facts in mind, Toyota and Discovery Education came up with the 2018 TeenDrive365 Video Challenge. Sponsored by the Discovery Education, now in its sixth year, teens are invited to submit an original 30-60 second Public Service Announcement intended for students, grade 9-12, about safe driving habits.
With the grand prize of $15,000 cash, they will get the opportunity to work with the Discovery film crew as well as the chance to re-shoot the entry video inside a TV-ready PSA.
Teens are to submit their entries until the 28th of February, 2018, at TeenDrive365inschool.com
“This contest continues to encourage students, parents and teachers to have critical conversations about the importance of making smart choices behind the wheel,” said Mike Goss, general manager, Toyota Social Innovation. “Every year we are amazed by the variety of unique and inspiring videos we receive and look forward to seeing this year’s entries.”

Judging the challenge this year is a panel consisted of educators, community leaders, experts in communications and Toyota representatives that will assemble to choose the winners. There are thousands of video submissions that have been considered since the beginning of this competition and the efforts and attempts have been awarded with hundreds of thousands of dollars in student grants and prizes. The top ten videos- some of them funny while others more serious- convey the significance of safe driving habits and the prevention of fatal complications and outcomes while behind the wheel.
